Process Evaluation Service

Thoroughbred Technologies, Inc. provides a comprehensive process discovery study to determine how to best deploy your OPUS software system. This study will provide an analysis of your current processes and recommend best practices and implementation steps.

Process Analysis

The Process Analysis begins with interviews and walk through that allow our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to document your workflow. During this process, we will determine configuration requirements for an OPUS installation and perform a Gap Analysis that will identify any customization requirements. Our SMEs will also gather necessary information to customize training based on your processes.

We will determine data integration requirements for the initial conversion as well as on-going inbound and outbound data feeds. Data mapping and system database configurations are determined based on current data sources. Our system engineers will look at inventory and transaction volume to make recommendations on database tuning.

Reporting Requirements

Analysis of current and on-going reporting requirements will be identified to assure proper management reporting. While OPUS deploys with a number of circulation and inventory reports, as well as an ad hoc report generator, there may be areas identified for customization. OPUS utilizes Ms Report Writer, which allows us, or your staff, to add and modify existing OPUS reports.

Data Integration Services

Our data integration services involve the conversion of data from existing legacy systems into an OPUS system, and identify the on-going inbound and outbound data flows.

Data Conversion

Most software installations will require the data conversion to come from a legacy system or earlier software version. As a result of our process analysis and configuration data mapping, we will look at existing data sources and make recommendations on the best path for migration. Once a data mapping plan is in place, Thoroughbred Technologies will configure existing data import utilities to accommodate your specific import requirements.

Thoroughbred Technologies performs trial conversions prior to “conversion day” and determines the best direct path to convert the data, whether it is from Oracle to Oracle or from SQL to Oracle, or any other combination. We have converted as many as 200 million records in a weekend conversion for a “go live” on Monday.

Daily Interfaces

We determine the required incoming and outgoing data interfaces needed for your businesses. Configurations to the OPUS Realtime module allow us to import data from multiple sources and provide business rules for these imports. Out bound data feeds can also be configured.

Data Clean-up

Based on business rules, incoming data (initial or ongoing interfaces) can perform custom data clean-up when necessary. This may be required when data is coming from older systems and the integrity of the data is suspect, or when the values of data have changed over the years.

Inventory Reconciliation

Inventory Audit and File Conversion Services can be provided as a complete inventory audit of your file room or archive center. This includes:

  • Identifying missing files/boxes
  • Miss-filed files or boxes
  • Files or boxes marked as destroyed, but have not been
  • Files or boxes which should be destroyed
  • Files or boxes found but have not been indexed in the database

Custom Interfaces

Thoroughbred Technologies can provide custom interfaces and modules which seamlessly integrate with your OPUS base system. OPUS has been engineered to allow customized hooks that specifically address business rules, while not interfering with the base functionality of the system. Our custom interfaces and modules are add-on components and do not prevent upgrades of your base system. Some interfaces that we provide include:

  • Inbound and outbound data feeds with custom rules for creating specific item types and formatting data for exporting
  • Add-on transparent modules to perform custom rules based on activities
  • Custom reporting and execution of reports at designated times, along with auto routing of reports
  • Custom user interfaces and workflow processes.
