OPUS Self-Check

The solution for unattended file room tracking

OPUS Self-Check is an add-on to OPUS iNet or OpusLite. It is designed to provide flawless Check In/Check Out functionality for the open or unattended file room. OPUS Self-Check is graphically designed to be extremely intuitive, eliminating the need for training the user.

Once configured to the Opus iNet or OpusLite database, users select “Check-In” or “Check-Out” from the main screen. Users can then scan the barcode affixed to the file then enter their personal ID number or their personally assigned barcode to record the transaction.

All circulation history will display in the root OPUS product and will be available for reporting. OPUS Self-Check can also be configured to utilize RFID tags.

OPUS RFID

Re-engineering the file room with OPUS intelligent filing technology

RFID (radio frequency identification) technology has been incorporated into OPUS records Management Tracking Software to extend as well as add functionality to its tracking capabilities.

RFID tags and readers enhances traditional barcode tracking and allows for productivity gains in circulation management. It can be a method to prevent wasted manpower time wasted on locating lost or misplaced files. The RFID tags co-exist with traditional barcode tagging, allowing the personnel flexibility to perform other circulation activities. Some of the typical circulation activities associated with RFID might include:

Check In/Check Out Kiosk – These workstation setups allow users (or file room attendants) to quickly check-out files to “Requestors”. Implementing our OPUS Self-Check module along with the RFID portal readers in an open file room scenario, one can rest assured that all files will be accounted for, and nothing will walk out of the file room unchecked. Portal readers will track a file as it leaves a secure area without actually having to physically scan the file.

Find A File – Employing OPUS Records Management Software, an RFID of the missing files can be uploaded to the portable RFID readers allowing users to scan bulks of files within the office in an effort to locate the files. The RFID reader will beep and notify the user when the missing file has been located.

Inventory/Location Update – Portable readers can also be used to update file location when files are moved from the file room, allowing for quick inventory reconciliation reporting.

RFID tags are Generation 2, Ultra High Frequency (UHF) operating at 862-928 MHz. Tag sizes range from 2×2 inches to 4×6 inches and can be applied to the inside cover of most file folders.
